Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

2020-2021 First Reconciliation and First Communion

We are so excited to have your child receive their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion at our parish! Any child who has been baptized in the Catholic Church and is at least in 2nd grade is eligible to start preparing for these sacraments.
If your child is in 7th grade or higher and has not received First Holy Communion, or if your child was baptized in another faith please contact me separately because the preparation for these students to receive Holy Communion might be different.

2020 First Communion Rescheduled

For those who were prepared to receive 1st Communion in April or May 2020, We have added many dates for first communion rescheduled. We were hoping to be able to have the students receive all at the same Masses, but because of covid capacity issues we are limited in the number of students that can receive at each Mass.
Here are some dates we have planned, but you are more than welcome to choose any date that works for your family. You are also welcome to wait if your family is not ready to return to large gatherings yet.
Saint Clare
9:30am on Sept 20   (this date is full)
9:30am on Oct 4
Saint Thomas
4:30pm on Sept 26
11:15 on Sept 27 ( this date is full)
11:15am on Oct 4  (this date is full)
11:15am on Oct 18
Please fill out THIS SURVEY to let us know which Mass you would like to have your child receive at.  Once you fill out the survey you are signed up for that date. Trista will contact you the week of your date to go over details.

Details for Rescheduled 1st Communion

1. Because of capacity limitations, we will only be able to guarantee 10 spaces per family ahead of time. If you need additional spots you will need to register on the website through sign up genius the week of the 1st communion.
2. We encourage students to wear their 1st communion attire and bring their banner to hang on the pew. A pew will be reserved for you family near the front or side of church.
3. Due to Covid restrictions, we will not be able to do the candle lighting, offeratory, sing a song or any additional activity that  would require the students to leave their pew during Mass. Therefore we will not be needing a rehearsal.
4. Trista will be at Mass 15 minutes early to go over how to hold their hands to receive. Here is A VIDEO that shows how to receive in case you want to practice at home.
5.  Mask are required because of the state mandate. No blood of Christ (wine) will be distributed.
6. There will be no need to hand in the workbook that was sent home. The main thing that your child needs to know is that they are receiving Jesus, not bread.
7. There will be no group picture as students will be receiving at many different Masses. However, please send an individual photo of your child on their first communion day and Trista will put together a class photo that will be sent out after most have received.
